With over 25 years of experience in the senior housing industry, Lisa Brush created Symphony Senior Living, a Canadian based company in 2008. Over her career, she has been directly involved with ground-up development and has managed many large portfolios in both the private and public sectors. Moreover, Lisa is a passionate businesswoman who defines success with a strong track record of unparalleled leadership. Ms. Brush has built her industry expertise by succeeding in the following positions: Chief Executive Officer for The Steeves and Rozema Group of Companies (S&R), Vice President of Operations for Sunrise Senior Living Inc, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise REIT and SVP of Senior Housing Operations and Development for Ventas Inc (NYSE: VTR).
There are two things in this world Lisa cannot live without, her kids and her dog….maybe three the Ocean… She has two kids, Jocelynne who is 23 and Daniel who is 18. Lisa is also a mother to Louis Brush, our Chief Canine Officer and loves to travel with him wherever she goes. Lisa is an avid scuba diver and PADI Instructor, that loves the ocean for its peace and tranquility….keeping us in this Moment!
Nick Hogan, CPA, CA
Vice President of Finance
As VP Finance, Nick is responsible for corporate finance, including accounting, budgeting, and audit. In addition to finance, Nick oversees the IT function and risk mitigation strategies. Nick is a passionate leader focused on serving the needs of the customer, his team members and company partners.
Nick joins Symphony Senior Living Inc having experience in a diverse set of industries with a focus on driving a great customer experience. Prior to joining the company, he held controllership positions at Modern Niagara and Thales where he was responsible for the finance function. Before becoming a professional accountant Nick spent a decade as an entrepreneur focused on driving quality products and a great customer experience.
Nick graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), Specializing in Accounting. In his free time he enjoys cycling, skiing, and spending time with his wife, two young boys and their dog.
Vice President of Sales
Fara brings more than three decades of specialty healthcare sales, marketing, and management experience to the dynamic senior housing sector. With a Bachelor of Science and graduate work in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Christian University, Fara understands the complexity of services needed to care for seniors and their families.
Fara’s background includes working with Sunrise Senior Living in 2003 coaching and training community sales teams in effective lead management and as a Division Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Brookdale Senior Living integrating three divergent operating groups, including Alterra and American Retirement Communities under the Brookdale brand. Fara went on to work with the Greystone Communities to lead the Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing pre-sales and fastest fill of Aberdeen Heights CCRC in 2012.
In 2015, Fara helped launch the SRI (Stanford Research Institute) Fellow, Blue Willow Systems, and revolutionary resident safety Technology Company with real-time location, personal wander management, automatic fall detection, and predictive analytics. Fara continues to serve Blue Willow Systems on their Advisory Board.
As a fifth generation Texan, Fara brings her pioneer spirit to finding new approaches to helping senior housing thrive for all. Fara lives with her husband in an active adult community in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and loves to travel and learn about how science and technology improves our human experience.
Regional Director of Operations
With over 28 years of experience working with seniors, Connie has a lifelong passion for the care of seniors. A Registered Practical Nurse for 26 years, Connie brings a broad background in home care support,and retirement living. Connie is also a certified dementia care practitioner with 17 years experience as an Executive Director. Connie is dedicated to providing leadership and support to the region as well as education development and training as part of the Symphony Senior team.
In Connie’s spare time, you can always find her on the football fields around the province of Ontario cheering for her 2 sons.
Business Office Manager – Ottawa Region
Susan had been working as the Business Office Coordinator at Symphony Senior Living Kanata. She has recently joined the Ottawa Regional team as the Business Office Manager. She has been working with Symphony Senior Living since 2013. Before she started with Symphony, she had spent the past ten years living aboard in the USA, the UK and Belgium. She has extensive experience working in the Federal Government as Finance and Administrative Coordinator.
Susan is a very caring and compassionate member of the Symerica team and has a home with her husband, Norm and their two cats. In the summer months, you will find Susan in her garden.
Senior Media & Public Relations Coordinator
Jocelynne is a student at The University of Guelph-Humber in Toronto, Ontario studying media and majoring in public relations. She has been with Symphony/Symerica since 2009 assisting in everything from administrative work during her summers off to balancing social media monitoring full-time. Currently she is using her media savviness to launch the Symphony Senior Living rebrand to Symerica Senior Living in the United States.
Jocelynne is the daughter of our CEO, Lisa Brush and has one biological brother and three half siblings. She grew up in a small city in south-western Ontario called Sarnia. Last summer she spent her days working for her father’s Honda dealership as front desk and has had many previous administrative jobs in the past.
Jocelynne has also previously worked as a makeup artist to a high-end salon in Yorkville, Toronto and enjoys the world of makeup as a hobby as well. She moved to Toronto when she was 18 and started university there leaving Sarnia behind. She has always been a big city girl who loves to travel and never seems to just stay put in one spot. She currently resides in Toronto with her one roommate/best friend and occasionally a fish.
Chief Canine Officer
Louis Brush became a part of the Symphony team in 2010 at the very ripe age of 8 weeks. He is now a full-grown bundle of energy at 8 years old. He battled through some tough times as a puppy when he became very ill and almost passed away just weeks after he came home. Luckily, he was rushed to one of the best animal hospitals in the country and he was able to pull through. Now, he is a whooping 10 pounds of love and is a registered service dog.
Louis has toured all of the Symphony properties multiple times, each property he goes to he greets our residents with love and affection. Residents and staff love when Louis comes to stay at the properties as he always brings his best attitude to work everyday. He is also a world wide traveler who has visited many places in the United States, Canada and even Europe! Some of his favourite snacks include duck, lamb, and the occasional stray sour candy that drops to the floor.
